Heat kills carpet beetles too!

I last wrote about people who call us after finding a bug. Many folks think most bugs sized, shaped, and colored like an apple seed are bed bugs. Rightly so, most are. Wouldn’t you know it, I was sitting on the couch when I saw a bug crawling across the carpet. I have a photo of that bug above.
I’ve been working on my Junior Entomologist badge lately, and that bug looked like a carpet beetle to me— no pun intended, bed bugs crawl across carpeting, too!
The value of a good photo
A good photo is helpful in making a solid identification of the bug you’ve found. Various insect species can look similarly to each other— and far too many bugs look the same when smashed, like the photo here. This smashed bug could be a fly, a bed bug, a carpet beetle, or even a small cockroach. Luckily, a properly-conducted bed bug heat treatment can kill them all.
Training and temperature makes the difference
A solid identification is less critical when Armor & Shield does a heat treatment. Since we measure the treatment temperatures, we know when we’ve killed the bugs. Here’s how we know and why proper identification can be important:
A bed bug treatment requires 140°F to be lethal to adults, nymphs, and eggs.
The human body louse succumbs to heat exposure at 116°F. Carpet beetles die at a relatively cool 120°F. Powder post beetles die at 130°F. Dust mites need 140°F. Cockroaches and spiders require slightly more heat at 150°F.
Heat penetrates all the contents of your home, restaurant, business, medical facility, or hotel. Heat gets all around furniture and penetrates rugs and carpeting. We achieve lethal temperatures behind, under, and inside of furniture, walls, and fixtures. Wherever bed bugs or other insects might hide, heat gets there and kills them. When Armor & Shield does a whole-structure heat treatment, you can rest assured insect pests and bacteria within your structure will be dead… no matter where they may be hiding.
Save money by calling Armor & Shield
When you need a bed bug heat treatment, Armor & Shield will save you time and money. I do not recommend internet solutions or over-the-counter pesticides to deal with a bed bug infestation. Do it right the first time. We have a safe technology with years of proof from millions of successful bed bug treatments: and Armor & Shield successfully uses heat every day to exterminate bed bugs. No other bed bug exterminator in the entire Oklahoma City Metro Area including the communities of Bethany, Bristow, Broken Arrow, Chandler, Edmond, Guthrie, McLoud, Norman, Oklahoma City, Shawnee, Tulsa, and Midwest City can match the results you will achieve when you call Armor & Shield at 405-698-6090— and we prove this every day.
Don’t take our word for it
